The game featured appearances by several villains and allies from the Spider-Man mythos, including Aunt May, Mary-Jane Watson, Captain Yuri Watanabe, Otto Octavius, Martin Li, Scorpion, Rhino, Vulture, Electro and more, many re-imagined for the game's world. The game follows the story of the film of the same name, about a young boy that was bitten by a genetically engineered spider that soon developed various super powers. Marvel's Spider-Man placed players into the web-shooters of Peter Parker's Spider-Man, seven years into his career as the arachnid-like superhero. Spider-Man 2 is an action adventure video game released in 2004 for multiple gaming consoles including Game Boy Advanced. This followed rumors sparked by Insomniac writer Jamie Mayer, who is working on both Spider-Man 2 and the Wolverine game, as well as the store page that opened up for Marvel's Spider-Man 2 on the PlayStation Store's UK front. The game is set to be launched exclusively on PlayStation 5. Sony previously confirmed on the official PlayStation blog that Marvel's Spider-Man 2 will be released sometime in the fall of 2023, though the company did not provide a more precise release window.
